After almost confirming the recruitment of Real Kashmir FC fullback Novin Gurung, East Bengal officials are all set to make their second recruitment for the next season as they continue to reassemble their team after the forgettable 2019-20 season.
If sources are to be believed, Mohun Bagan’s number 1 and prime member of the title winning campaign, custodian Sankar Roy is all set to switch colours and join the Red and Gold brigade for the next season. As per sources, Sankar Roy is set to sign on a 3 years contract with East Bengal.
Sankar Roy has made 14 appearances for the Mariners in the 2019-20 season, keeping 6 cleansheets in the campaign, the most by any goalkeeper. His match winning performances against Gokulam Kerala, Punjab FC etc certainly caught the eyes of the scouts and East Bengal officials were adamant to sign the 24 year old Bengali custodian. Sankar Roy has previously played for Mohammedan Sporting too back in 2016-17 season, thus would make him join the unique club of players who have played for all 3 Kolkata Giants.
