East Bengal FC officials have been the most active amidst the lockdown and are certainly not waiting to rebuild their squad for the upcoming season. They have already confirmed the signing of Balwant Singh in the morning and now as per sources they are all set to rope in Hyderabad FC centre back Gurtej Singh.

The 29 year old from Punjab has been a regular starter in the ISL for the last three seasons with FC Pune City and now Hyderabad FC after the former got disbanded. Gurtej has appeared in 42 matches in the ISL since 2017/18 and even featured in the playoffs with FC Pune City in 2017/18.

East Bengal FC officials was looking for an Indian centre back to replace the outgoing Mehtab Singh, who is all set to join Mumbai City FC. Gurtej Singh would be a good replacement for the outgoing academy lad and would come in with huge experience under his belt. Gurtej was also twice the part of I-League winning campaigns with Churchill Brothers (2012/13) and Bengaluru FC (2013/14).

As per sources, the Red and Gold brigade is also in final stages to rope in ATK’s defensive midfielder Sehnaj Singh for the upcoming season. It is quite evident with all these signings that the officials are adamant to build on a decent squad after the failures of the current season.
