East Bengal FC team management has already officially announced ten new signings so far for the upcoming season including the likes of Balwant Singh, Lalramchullova, Gurtej Singh etc. As per sources, the team management had been looking to rope in another Indian forward alongside Balwant Singh and they have been linked with former striker Robin Singh.
Robin, who started his career from TFA and then to East Bengal in 2010 under Trevor James Morgan had an eventful start to his career, scoring 5 goals in the Kolkata Derby in two seasons. However, his career never really picked up and the tall physical forward from Delhi forever remained a prospect who couldn’t achieve his true potential.
The 29 year old was part of the ISL team Hyderabad FC setup last season where he failed to impress the team management and was loaned out to I-League side Real Kashmir FC until the end of the season. He made 9 appearances with 5 starts for Hyderabad FC scoring once and got 7 starts at Real Kashmir FC where too he scored just once.
If the deal do finally takes place, Robin Singh’s addition to the East Bengal team would raise a few questions from the fans as the team management would only be bringing in a player who is past his prime and is really struggling to find his form. At best he could only be seen as a squad signing and not a first team material at any cost by ISL standards.
The East Bengal FC team management are also linked with former player Mohammed Rafique who could be close to joining the Red and Gold brigade for the upcoming season from Mumbai City FC.
