If anyone who has been keeping themselves busy amidst the lockdown it would certainly be the East Bengal recruitment team. They are certainly on a signing spree in the transfer market and after confirming the likes of Balwant Singh and Gurtej Singh, they are now as per sources are very close to bring on-board the former fullback Lalramchullova for the upcoming season.
The Mizo fullback joined East Bengal in 2017/18 and played for two season before leaving for arch-rivals Mohun Bagan. Chullova’s loss made the fans very upset with the previous recruitment team as he was one of the main performers of the team that became I-League runners up in 2018/19.
Chullova however didn’t feature much for the Green and Maroon brigade in the I-League winning campaign as he became second choice to Ashutosh Mehta and Dhanachandra Singh. However, the ability of Chullova to play in both the fullback positions makes him an asset for any team.
The Red and Gold brigade are certainly assembling a decent squad for the upcoming season and the recruitment team isn’t waiting for the lockdown to get over. The management is on hunt for few more senior players and hence the speculation to jump ship from I-League to ISL becoming stronger each passing day.
