The 2019-20 season is a one to forget for all East Bengal Fans. If possible, they would try re-start it from the beginning once again. The failure in the transfer market by the Quess East Bengal FC management would be termed as the primary cause for the poor performance of the Red and Gold brigade in the centenary season.
The fans have been waiting amidst all the panic outside just to get Official announcement of East Bengal Club playing the Indian Super League next season. There is news about Quess Corp. formally ending ties and leave the club by as soon as 31st March. There are also rumours about a possible new sponsor/investor tie up which will help the club play in the ISL next season.
The announcement is still due for quite sometime but the East Bengal officials have already been busy in the transfer market as sources have been telling us. The club officials are trying hard not to repeat the failures of the transfer market like the current season and with quite few upgrades required in the squad if the team plays in the ISL, the officials are rumoured to have already finalised quite a few names whom the fans can see in the Red and Gold colours next season.
As per reports and different sources, the East Bengal officials have shown interest in signing few Indian names like – Sarthak Golui from Mumbai City, Jeje Lalpekhlua and goalkeeper Vishal Kaith from Chennaiyin FC. The officials are also rumoured to have had talks to get back Laldanmawia Ralte and Chullova from Hyderabad FC and Mohun Bagan respectively.
There have also been rumours about few more Indian players like Ashutosh Mehta who had a terrific I-League with arch-rivals Mohun Bagan and also North East FC goalkeeper Subhashish Roy Choudhury. Some sources have also said that East Bengal officials will announce the signing of the players as soon as they officially announce the participation in the ISL next season.
The club management has also incoporated former legends like Bhaichung Bhutia, Alvito D’Cunha, Chandan Das, Sashti Duley etc as technical advisor and scouts for Indian talents as the team management has plans to start a “reserve” team which will play alongside the main team. The reserve team will act as a bridge from the academy to the senior side and will be playing in the I-League second division.
The fans can be hopeful with all the developments and rumours that are floating around. The season could be obliviated from the memories if the club indeed announces the participation in the ISL next season. All that the fans can do now is wait for few weeks and can expect some good news from the season afterall.
