Shambolic and Disarrayed would be apt to describe the performance of Quess East Bengal FC on Wednesday against Gokulam Kerala FC as they suffered back to back defeats in the Hero I-League.

The scoreline ended 1-3 at full time in favour of the Malabarians who were clinical upfront and punished all the mistakes the Red and Gold defence made.

The game started at a good pace, the fans united at the third minute of he game in solidarity of Borja Gomez Perez.

The home side made a few attacks with Juan Mera at the fulcrum of most of them. However, in the 21st minute, against the play of the game, Kamalpreet Singh made an error on the right and was punished by the former Mohun Bagan forward Henry Kisseka as the away team took the lead.

The home side made a quick recovery and came back into the game as they equalised within 6 minutes as Asheer Akhtar header of a Lalrindika Ralte set piece rebounded of the barpos Kassim Aidara tapped in the rebound to make it 1-1 in the 27th minute. Coach Alejandro Menendez’s boys put on the pedal to a shaken Gokulam Kerala side but failed to break open the opposition defence.

The game was poised to go into halftime at 1-1 but once again a lose ball from the back was made a mess upon by Marti Crespí who instructed Ralte to stay back on the line which eventually led to the second goal for the Malabarians. Henry’s feeble shot which should have been a easy clearance for Marti Crespí, was put into his own net by the Spaniard and the away side took a 1-2 lead into the break.

The second half was a similar story to the first as the Red and Gold frontline couldn’t break open any chances. Once again against the play of the game, a lose long ball which should have been a routine clearance for Asheer Akhtar was messed up and Marcus Joseph punished the Quess East Bengal team to make in 3-1 in the 61st minute.

Coach Alejandro Menendez tried to put in Ronaldo Oliveira in place of a heavily underperforming Pintu Mahata but the storyline remained the same as Quess East Bengal FC suffered defeat in consecutive matches to stay at just 8 points from 6 games.

Quess East Bengal FC CEO Sanjit Sen was physically harassed after the game in the VIP Stands as the faced the furious Red and Gold fans who are clearly not happy with the performance of the team in the centenary season.
