The Red and Gold team management are wasting no time in finalising their squad for the Indian Super League campaign. The official announcement of the entry into the Indian Super League is due anytime and the club is also expected to make announcements for the names of the coach and players for the season. As per rumours, the club is linked with two defenders from European top division leagues – Kenneth Otigba and Roman Polom.
The 28-year-old Nigerian born Hungarian national team defender has been linked with a move to East Bengal FC. The former SC Heerenveen defender was part of the Ferencvárosi TC squad in the 2019/20 season in the Hungarian top division. He made a comeback from an injury which made him miss most of the 2018/19 season. He returned to squad in January 2020 and started in 12 out of 15 matches for the club, playing 90 minutes in all of the matches.
“Kenny” Otigba has also played for the Hungarian National team in 2018 before his injury and made two appearances, including one against Scotland. The Nigerian born defender is currently without a club and he is heavily linked with East Bengal FC for a move.
The 28-year-old former Sparta Praha Czech defender who was part of the SK Dynamo Ceske Bedujovice squad last season is also rumoured to be linked with a move to the Red and Gold brigade.
Roman Polom, known for being a left-footed ball playing defender, has played in all age group national teams for Czech Republic. In the 2018/19 season he made 11 appearances in the Czech top division however surprisingly he didn’t make a single appearance in the 19/20 season. The lack of data makes us unable to clearify whether he had any injuries or he he was dropped from the squad. He is currently without a club and now has been linked with a move to the Indian Super League with East Bengal FC.
