Sattyik Sarkar, BADGEB: Indian Super League side East Bengal appoints Liverpool Legend Robbie Fowler as their new head coach.

As a footballer, Fowler holds a record of 186 Premier League goals, being the seventh-highest goal scorer of the league. Other than Liverpool, he also played for clubs like Leeds United, Manchester City, Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, North Queensland Fury, Perth Glory and Muangthong United.

His managerial career started at Muanthong United in 2011. Before joining East Bengal, Fowler was managing A-League side Brisbane Roar FC and had won two consecutive ‘Manager of the Month’ awards in January and February 2020 respectively. As the League came to a halt with the arrival of the pandemic, Fowler announced his decision of leaving Brisbane Roar FC after guiding them to a fourth-place finish from being the second last the previous season.

Fowler would be the second English coach at East Bengal after Trevor James Morgan. The appointment of Robbie Fowler will surely make the Red and Gold fans hopeful of a fantastic season ahead.
