The Liverpool FC legend, whom the Anfield faithful has termed as “The God” is suddenly the favourite to take over as the new head coach of East Bengal FC and take charge of the team into the Indian Super League campaign.
The 45-year-old has been active as a football manager since 2019 with A-League side Brisbane Roar who had finished second last in 2018/19 season. He was in charge for a total of 24 matches – winning 11, drawing five and losing eight with Brisbane Roar finishing the campaign in the fourth spot. Fowler, who signed a two-year deal at Brisbane Roar in April 2019, left the club halfway through last season after all fixtures were suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic
Fowler has also been named twice the A-League Manager of the Month during his stay with Brisbane Roars last season.
Fowler, who scored 183 goals in 369 appearances for Liverpool, would be the second British to take charge of the club after Trevor James Morgan, who had served the club in two spells and helped the club win 9 trophies.
