Lineup Prediction: Quess East Bengal FC vs Gokulam Kerala
Last Updated 9:07 AM 13th January 2020 .
Quess East Bengal FC are all set to face Gokulam Kerala FC on Wednesday at the Kalyani Stadium as both the teams will be coming off a defeat, looking to find winning ways to stay in the hunt for the I-League title.
We have our lineup predictions as always for the mega match before the all important Kolkata Derby on 19th January.
Lalthuammawia Ralte has failed to keep a cleansheet in any of the 5 matches so far. However, his performance in the Churchill Brothers game was outstanding, as he made two sure saves in the second half and for goal he conceded, he wasn’t at fault.
Ralte has been confident at the back and his ability with the ball in his feet will make him likely to start ahead of Mirshad again, who is waiting for an opportunity since his heroics in the Durand Cup Semi Final.
Coach Alejandro Menendez will be worried about his defence as his team has leaked in goals in every game so far.
He has also failed to find a stable backline as he has fielded 4 different back fours in the 5 matches so far.
Alejandro Menendez might go for the same back four as in the Churchill Brothers game with Mehtab Singh partnering Crespí; Kamalpreet and Ambekar playing as the fullbacks.
With Borja Gomez Perez unavailable and Marti Crespí tagged with 3 bookings (one more and he’ll miss the next game), Alejandro Menendez will be genuinely worried with his backline against a formidable Gokulam Kerala attack.
Didika Ralte was subbed off after 70 mins after a light knock in the Churchill Brothers game but he is back to training with the full team and is available for the game on Wednesday and will likely start once again to partner Kassim Aidara as the two holding midfielders.
Kassim like Crespí too has 3 bookings to his name and is in danger of missing the Derby. His form too has been in question among the Red and Gold faithful as he is no where near to his commanding best like he was last year.
Juan Mera, Jaime Santos Colado and Abhijit Sarkar might once again start in the three attacking midfield positions as Pintu Mahata has just returned to training on Sunday who will likely feature on the bench on Wednesday against Gokulam Kerala.
Marcos de la Espada is under the scrutiny once again after his poor finishing display in the Churchill Brothers game but coach Alejandro Menendez is likely to put his trust on the Spaniard once again to lead his frontline against the Malabarians.
Marcos has 3 goals and 2 assist so far to his name but he is far from the prolific striker the Red and Gold faithful expects him to be.
Ronaldo Oliveira and Bidyashagar Singh have been used as substitutes in few of the games and will most likely to feature from the bench once again.
