Late strike by Juan Mera salvages a point in an adverse string of events at Ludhiana

Controversy outside the playing field isn’t leaving Quess East Bengal FC since the start of the season and it perhaps reached it’s pinnacle when the East Bengal team reached Ludhiana early morning at 4 am today after traveling 7 hrs on bus from Delhi to play against Punjab FC.
The Quess East Bengal team was supposed to travel by train via Delhi to Ludhiana. However, the team got stranded at the station as they missed the departure and the entire team was then taken on road to Ludhiana in a 7 hour journey just a night before the game. The management totally failed to arrange proper logistics and ensure the team to be at the best possible condition before the game.
The game started at the Guru Nanak Stadium with the Red and Gold brigade already looking fatigued from the heavy exhaustion. Punjab FC took the lead early in the 12th minute when Brazilian defender Danilo headed home from a Sanju Pradhan free kick, only minutes after Jaime Santos Colado missed an opportunity to put East Bengal ahead.
The score stayed 1-0 till late in the second half when Quess East Bengal FC piled up the pressure for an equaliser as Coach Alejandro introduced Ronaldo Oliveira and Brandon. It was ultimately the Man of the match from last game, Juan Mera who became the saviour as he equalised in the 83rd min with a beautiful grounded left footed effort from the top of the box to salvage a point from the extreme conditions.
With two draws from two games, the Red and Gold brigade have not made the start they ideally wanted. They will now travel to Imphal to play against NEROCA FC on 10th for their next game.
