Quess East Bengal FC have certainly avoided an embarrassment at the Salt Lake Stadium today after they equalised in the dying minutes from a rebounded penalty by Jaime Santos Colado against Churchill Brothers to share points.

The match which could have been a easy win for the Red and Gold brigade, saw Jaime Santos Colado and Ansumana Kromah miss 3 golden opportunities which miraculously didn’t end up at the back of the net. The 12 thousand odd fans present at the Salt Lake Stadium today couldn’t believe their eyes for what they saw and how the chances were squandered by the team.

Coach Mario Rivera made three changes in the squad from the last game, with Brandon coming in for Ansumana Kromah, Victor Perez starting in place of injured Lalrindika and Rohlupuia playing for suspended Kassim Aidara.

It was none other than arch nemesis Willis Plaza, who scored his 4th goal in as many appearances against his former club, in the 10th minute after making a mockery of the Quess East Bengal FC defence by dancing past Abhash, Asheer and Mirshad to make it 1-0 for the visiting side.

The Red and Gold brigade went all out to find an equaliser but the wasteful attacking line could not even test the Churchill Brothers goalkeeper with Jaime Santos Colado missing the best chance of the first half as he placed a beautifully layed off ball by Juan Mera right onto the hands of James Khitan with a weak sidefooted push.

After the break, Jaime Santos Colado again got a huge opportunity to equalise the game after Juan Mera layed off a wonderful ball from a counter attack but once again the number 8 squandered his chances with a weak effort which was easily saved by the Churchill Brothers custodian.

Ansumana Kromah was introduced in place of Rohlupuia to boost the attacking threat however the Liberian striker missed the easiest chance of the match as he placed the ball out of the frame of the goal from 10 yards distance with only the Churchill Brothers goalkeeper in front. The fans present at the stadium couldn’t believe that the ball didn’t go in.

Kromah however was at the focus in the dying minutes as he earned a penalty which Jaime Santos Colado took. The penalty shot was saved initially by James Khitan but the rebound fell right in front of Colado and he didn’t make an error this time to put it in the back of the net to make sure Quess East Bengal FC get off with 1 point from the game.
