A breathe of fresh air finally for the East Bengal fans as the Red and Gold brigade finally get back to winning ways after a gap of 3 matches as they rode on Spaniard Jaime Santos Colado’s brilliance to snatch a 3-1 win against Indian Arrows to jump up to the 6th spot.

Coach Mario Rivera made one change to the lineup as Didika Ralte replaced Kamalpreet Singh in the eleven. Juan Mera once again started from the bench with not being full recovered from his injury.

The match couldn’t have started better for the Red and Gold brigade as Jaime Santos Colado struck a powerful left footed volley which found the back of the net from 25 yards as Quess East Bengal FC took the lead in the 6th minute.

The match lost it’s tempo as the game progressed and Indian Arrows started to get back slowly into the game. The home side got awarded a penalty in the opening minutes of the second half as Abhash Thapa handled the ball inside the box. However, Vikram Pratap Singh failed to score from the spot as Quess East Bengal FC managed to keep the lead.

The joy wouldn’t last long for the visiting team as Vikram Pratap Singh atoned for his earlier miss and equalised for the Indian Arrows in the 54th minute after latching on to a lose ball courtesy of a mistake from Mehtab Singh.

Coach Mario Rivera introduced Juan Mera into the game soon after the the equaliser to out pressure on the boys in blue. The Red and Gold brigade made few attacks on the goal and eventually from two back to back corners from Jaime Santos Colado, Quess East Bengal FC scored twice within 5 minutes as they secured all 3 points from the Cooperage Ground.

Asheer Akhtar stretched out to a flicked header by Kassim at the back post to score the second for the Red and Gold brigade in the 62nd minute and Didika Ralte headed home from the second corner just 5 minutes later to secure the first victory in 4 matches for Quess East Bengal FC.

The victory will surely boost the team morale for coach Mario Rivera’s men as they jump from the relegation zone to the 6th place with 15 points from 12 matches in the I-League campaign. They will travel to Imphal next to face TRAU FC on Sunday.
