“I will score 30-40 goals” : Marcus Joseph
Last Updated 5:48 PM 29th November 2019 .
Gokulam Kerala FC forward Marcus Joseph has already set up his goals for the upcoming I-League.
He claimed to score around 30-40 goals in the upcoming I-League and grab the Golden boot award, as he spoke to the “Times of India”.
The claim does seems bold as the highest ever goal tally in a single I-League campaign is 32 goals from 26 games, scored by Ranti Martins for Dempo SC back in 2011-12 season. The number of matches too this season is just 20 compared to 26 in which Ranti made the record.
The Trinidad & Tobago forward is no shy of getting goals as he has been prolific since arriving in India, scoring 7 goals in 9 games in last season’s I-League; followed by 11 goals in 5 games in 2019 Durand Cup, including 2 goals in the final against Mohun Bagan to lift the trophy.
Gokulam Kerala FC is already a favourite for the 2019-20 I-League season with likes of Henry Kisseka, Nathaniel Garcia leading the lines along with Marcus himself.
This claim will certainly raise a few eyebrows and the spotlight will be surely on the Gokulam Kerala no 10 as the I-League kicks-off tomorrow.
