Quess East Bengal FC suffered their third consecutive loss in the Hero I-League campaign with the defeat against arch-rivals Mohun Bagan on Sunday.
The Red and Gold brigade suffered another major blow as new recruit Edmund Lalrindika, who came in as a second half substitute in place of Pintu Mahata and provided a beautiful assist for Marcos de la Espada to reduce the margin, had to be taken off with an injury to his right knee which he suffered a few moments earlier.
Edmund caught the eye of the fans with his short display in the Derby and his injury will add to the frustrations of the Red and Gold team management who had brought him on loan from Bengaluru FC, since Pintu Mahata has been dissapointing so far in the I-League.
As per close sources, Edmund’s injury is serious and he could be sidelined for few months with 6 weeks of complete rest, meaning the season is probably over for him. He was seen being carried out in a wheelchair with his right knee heavily strapped, after the game. He will be taken for MRI test today and the team management is fearing the worst.
