One win and the suffocating atmosphere is all but cleared for the Quess East Bengal FC team who will certainly look forward to the set of three home games within 14 days, starting with Indian Arrows on Saturday, to build on the winning momentum and stay in the hunt for the title.
The Red and Gold brigade displayed a fine second half performance which ensured a vital away victory from the home of the defending champions. Marcos Espada has now scored in back to back matches while Jaime Santos Colado’s comeback to form would be a huge boost to the team management as the Spaniard scored from the spot and provided the assist for the first goal.
The all Indian defence line against Chennai City FC stood their test as the team achieved their first cleansheet of the campaign. Against Indian Arrows, the Red and Gold defence would once again like to re-achieve the feat with Marti Crespí too coming back in contention for the starting lineup after serving the suspension.
Indian Arrows are a fast and tactically strong team coached by former Mohun Bagan and Mahindra United midfielder Venkatesh. His team might lack experience but are not to be taken lightly as they have already defeated Churchill Brothers at their home this season. The team would certainly put up a fight and make things difficult for the Red and Gold brigade.
Mario Rivera will most likely arrive before the game and the team management is trying to keep him in the dugout for the match. If not so, then assistant coaches Bastab Roy and Marçal Trulls Sevilliano will take charge just like they did against Chennai City FC and continue the winning momentum against the Indian Arrows side.
