I-League: Plaza haunts East Bengal once again!
Last Updated 7:11 PM 4th January 2020 .
Former East Bengal forward Willis Deon Plaza on the scoresheet once again as Quess East Bengal FC lose 1-0 to Churchill Brothers away the Fatorda Stadium today.
The Red and Gold brigade lost their first game of the I-League campaign as they repent for the basket full of chances they missed throughout the game.
Abhijit Sarkar, Juan Mera, Jaime Santos Colado, Marcos Espada and even Marti Crespí all of them could have been on the scoresheet if they could manage to keep their shots on target.
The game was marred with controversy as referee Santos Kumar disallowed a goal for Quess East Bengal in the first half as he called in a foul on the GK by the scorer Mehtab Singh who headed in from a Lalrindika Ralte corner.
Just when the game seemed to end in a split, it was Willis Deon Plaza who met his head to a perfectly delivered ball from Israil Gurung to grab the winner in the 88th minute and hand the first defeat to Coach Alejandro Menendez’s team.

Willis Plaza has now scored in all the 3 games he has played against his former side.
The new decade did not start well for the Red and Gold brigade as the fans had hoped for. Quess East Bengal FC now has 8 points from 5 games as they will face Gokulam Kerala FC next on 15th January at the Kalyani Stadium.
