The global football parent body FIFA has announced heavy punishment for East Bengal FC on the transfer saga between the club and Japanese midfielder Katsumi Yusa.
The global body has imposed a 17 Lakh INR fine also asked the club to pay he fine to the Japanese midfielder within 45 days or else the club could face transfer ban in the future.
Katsumi had reported to the highest body in 2018-19 season after East Bengal FC denied providing No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Japanese even after not retaining him for the season. After repeated appeals to the club went in vain, Katsumi reported the issue to FIFA and eventually the punishment was sentenced today by the governing body.
East Bengal FC already served a transfer ban in the 2018-19 season after a transfer saga involving Sukhdev Singh from Minerva Punjab went messy. AIFF Disciplinary Committee had imposed a transfer ban of 6 months to the Red and Gold brigade which caused huge problems to the team which missed out on the I-League championship by a single point.
