East Bengal fans won’t be happy to know that the Quess East Bengal FC management has released two of the most promising talents who graduated from the East Bengal Academy this year: Goalkeeper Ayon Roy and midfielder Dip Saha.
East Bengal U18 Coach Ranjan Chowdhuri had high praise for Goalkeeper Ayon Roy. He quoted:
“I see great work ethic in him . I see him training on his own at 4AM in the morning or 10PM in the night . He is 6 ft 2 Inches tall and I find great similarities between him and GKs like Subrata Paul , whom I worked with at TFA . I believe he is set to be a future star”
Ayon Roy was promoted to the senior squad this season however it was obvious he wouldn’t get first team game with 3 seniors goalkeepers in the squad.
Midfielder Dip Saha was the captain of the U18 team and was promoted to the senior team this year just like goalkeeper Ayon Roy.
However, instead of signing them on a long contract and sending them on loan to 2nd Division or Arrows setup just as Minerva Punjab did for Telem Suranjit Singh, the Quess East Bengal management released the duo just before the Durga puja this year.
Just like the two, another talented winger Bikash Singh was also promoted to the senior side however he was sent back to the U18 team and will play in the Hero Elite League this season, unlike Ayon Roy and Dip Saha who were overaged for the tournament.
The duo are yet to sign for any club and are sitting idle at home hoping to get a club in January or next season.
In a country where Indian talents are a rarity, Quess East Bengal management certainly made another blunder by releasing such talents and not keeping them for the future.
