East Bengal FC team management had been on a signing spree for the new season back in April and May as they roped in around 23 new names. The likes of Balwant Singh, CK Vineeth, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Milan Singh, Sehnaj Singh etc. all were signed by the club in hope to rebuild the squad for the Indian Super League. However, after the new investors joined in, they were unhappy with the signings of some of the Indian names who were clearly overaged and overpriced.

The investors Shree Cement had asked the committee of former players at East Bengal FC to provide them with a list of 18 Indian names who are deemed best fit to be a part of the squad and along with them they would rope in few more Indian names and foreigners and complete the squad for the 2020/21 Indian Super League campaign.

As per reports, the committee has handed over a list of 20 men Indian squad to the team management and after discussion with the club and investors, it is reported that the club has decided not to include of few players in the ISL squad which includes the likes of Cavin Lobo, Mohammed Rafique and Keegan Pereira.

Keegan Pereira has been known for his injury issues for the last couple of seasons and even had his contract terminated with Jamshedpur FC last season due to injury. Cavin Lobo and Mohammed Rafique are the two names who were thought to be making a comeback to the team for their second innings with the club, however, their age and current form weren’t that great and hence the committee after a thorough discussion with the team management has decided to release them from the ISL squad. There are also few more names like Bikash Saini and Pritam Kumar Singh who are also in the list of the players who have been decided no to be included in the squad for ISL.

There are also reports that the club has agreed personal terms with likes of Anas Edathodika and Debjit Majumdar. There is also rumours of the club trying to rope in Jeje Lalpekhlua, Narayan Das etc. who are some of the established names in the Indian Super League. The inclusion of these names would certainly boost the squad and with foreigners incoming they can put up a fight against the big names of the ISL.
