The Red and Gold brigade are on the verge of setting a unique record ahead of facing Real Kashmir FC on Monday at the TRC Turf Ground in Srinagar in the Hero I-League.

The match against the Kashmir side would mark the 500th match for East Bengal FC in the National Football League / I-League combined. The team is currently standing on 499 matches (including all the 5 matches in the 1996-97 Preliminary Round and 10 matches of the 1998-99 First Round).

In these 499 matches, East Bengal FC have a record of 247 wins, 133 draws and 119 losses at a win percentage of 49.5%. They have scored 755 goals while letting in 464. Bhaichung Bhutia leads the scoring charts with 48 goals in the NFL / I-League donning the Red and Gold kit.

East Bengal FC are the only team who have played in all the editions of the NFL / I-League and with this being perhaps the last edition where the team is participating, the unique record of playing the 500th game would surely be something that the statistics lovers would be happy with.
