East Bengal FC linked with Costa Rican World Cup 2018 Coach!

East Bengal FC team management are certainly keeping themselves busy amidst the lockdown period in the aim to participate in the ISL next season. They have already been roping in players from different teams to boost their squad. Now as per reports, the team management is said to have offered former Costa Rica’s national team manager Óscar Antonio Ramírez Hernández, who led the Costa Rican team in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, to become the coach for the Red and Gold brigade for the upcoming season.
East Bengal FC had brought the 2018 World Cup star Johnny Acosta right after the World Cup ended for the 2018/19 season. Johnny left after the season ended but was once again brought back in February 2020 to lead the team. It is being speculated that through Johnny Acosta himself, the club management has offered the former Costa Rican national team manager the job offer of becoming the East Bengal FC coach for next season.
Óscar Antonio Ramírez Hernández, nicknamed as “El Macho”, has been successful both as a footballler and manager. He was one of the top midfielders in his playing days and represented Costa Rica in the 1990 World Cup in Italy and also in the 1997 Copa America in Bolivia.
“El Macho” is considered as the most successful coach for Costa Rican club Alajuelense, where he managed in two separate stints, winning a total of five league titles between 2010 to 2015. He was appointed as the manager of the Costa Rican national team in 2015 and led his team to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where his team wad grouped alongside Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia.
The interest from East Bengal FC has also been reported in news from Costa Rica as well. They even quoted the words from Juan Vincente Carvajal of 506 Sport Corp., the agency that represents the coach, “Indeed, we can confirm that there is an interest from an Asian team to have the services of Óscar Ramírez.”
