East Bengal FC team management are yet to announce officially if the team is going to participate in the Indian Super League from the upcoming season however they have already been busy in the transfer market, roping in players to build a decent squad to fight against the ISL sides. As per reports, East Bengal FC are also looking to get an Indian AFC pro licence onboard.
There has been reports about the team management talking with Spanish coach Mario Rivera for the upcoming season. However, Mario and his assistants Marcus Trulls and Carlos Nodar Paz left for Spain a day back along with the players and East Bengal FC team management are worried if by any chance they are not allowed to return back to India due to the COVID-19 situation, they would be stranded in a mess. Hence, the management has decided to rope in an Indian AFC pro licence holder coach, who can step up as per the ISL guidelines if any such scenario takes place or else the recruit can act as the assistant to Mario.
The problem doesn’t end though as there are only 15 Indian AFC pro licence holders currently present. East Bengal FC team management did inquire the availabilities of FC Goa duo Derek Pereira and Clifford Miranda but both of them would be remaining at FC Goa.
The club management now is looking to get someone else with the licence and some of the names like Thongboi Singto, Stanley Rosario, Santosh Kashyap are being inquired about. Savio Medeira and Mariano Dias are engaged with AIFF duties and are unavailable, while former coach Khalid Jamil is not on the favourite list of the officials.
It is really a messy situation and East Bengal FC team management are trying to find a solution. An Indian AFC pro licence holder would certainly benefit the club but their availability is certainly a question which the officials need to find an answer for.
