Alongside transfer incomings, the East Bengal FC team management is also looking forward to offload the extras who had long term contracts with the club but are not going to be part of the Indian Super League squad. As per sources, young defender Asheer Akhtar, who joined the club last season from Bengaluru FC B team is set to join Mohammedan Sporting for the 2nd Division I-League.
Asheer had made 18 appearances last season in all competitions for the club including 10 in the I-League scoring one goal. He did impress the Red and Gold fans with his calmness and passing ability but there were instances where the 25-year-old made mistakes that led to conceding goals.
East Bengal Club had to take over the list of players who had existing long term contracts after previous investors left. The best solution was to find a new club for them and send the players who are not going to be a part of the Indian Super League squad and thus, just like winger Pintu Mahata who is set to join I-League club Sudeva FC, Asheer too is set for his new journey with the Kolkata giants in their quest to return back into the I-League.
