East Bengal FC: ASEAN Cup star to return as goalkeeper coach?

East Bengal FC officials has been very vocal and confident about the team participating in the Indian Super League next season, although it is officially not annouced yet. The team management has been keeping themselves hyperactive in the transfer market to rope in players and build a decent team to be able to compete in the league. As per reports, they have offered former ASEAN Cup winning goalkeeper Sandip Nandy to return as a goalkeeper coach for the upcoming season.
Sandip Nandy began his coaching journey last season with the ISL side North East United FC under Croatian coach Robert Jarni. He was given complete leadership over the goalkeeping section and trained the likes of Subhashish Roy Chowdhury and Pawan Kumar.
The 45 year old from Burdwan was still playing very recently until the 2017/18 season for ISL side Kerala Blasters. His career spanned over 2 decades and has won all the accolades as a player. He was even awarded as the best goalkeeper in the historic 2003 ASEAN Cup triumph.
Sandip Nandy himself said that only intial talks have started between him and East Bengal club. Nothing has been finalized as of yet. He did however accept that there is indeed an offer from the club to bring him in as the goalkeeping coach for the upcoming season.
