Defence a thing of concern for Mario Rivera ahead of facing Gokulam Kerala FC

Quess East Bengal FC have recovered from the relegation zone with 8 points from the last 4 matches as they moved into the 4th position in the I-League table. The team is all set to face Gokulam Kerala FC today at the EMS Municipality Ground in Kozhikode however, coach Mario Rivera and the coaching staff will be worried about the ever so leaky defence of the team who have managed to keep only just ONE cleansheet in 14 matches of the I-League.
The midfield of the Red and Gold brigade has been steadier after the arrival of Victor Perez. The Spaniard has been controlling the midfield and his accurate distribution has allowed Juan Mera to play with more vigour.
The cause of concern since the very beginning of the season is still the inability to finish chances. Quess East Bengal FC missed 3 glorious one-on-one chances against Churchill Brothers. The not-so-prolific forward Marcos de la Espada has been under constant criticism from the fans and pundits alike.
Liberian striker Ansumana Kromah too have missed some easy chances and this could even be the last match for the two Calcutta Football League top scorer after the arrival of Johnny Acosta. The controversy surrounding Kromah and his poor display on the pitch has almost certified him getting the axe and make way for the Costa Rican defender.
Coach Mario Rivera would be worried about the attacking lineup of Gokulam Kerala. The Malabarians had put 3 past the Red and Gold brigade in the first leg clash at Kalyani. Henry Kisseka and Marcus Joseph both scored in the fixture. East Bengal’s defence with Mehtab Singh and Asheer Akhtar will be under huge pressure to contain the fierce attacking lineup of the Malabarians. The team management will be surely looking forward to nothing less than a victory from Kerala.
