AIFF release initial images for the planned National Centre of Excellence in Kolkata!

The All India Football Federation has released it’s initial plans and images of the National Centre of Excellence, which is planned to be built in Kolkata as a home of AIFF national teams of all age groups for men and women, to further strengthen and develop the beautiful game in the country.
The initial plans were made during the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup and West Bengal’s Chief minister Mamata Bannerjee had handed over 15 acres of land on lease to the AIFF for 90 years on exchange of Re. 1 only. The AIFF had put on a planning committee and they have finally released the project status and planning images after almost 3 years.
The National Centre of Excellence would be a home of all National teams across all age groups for men and women, catering to the overall development of the teams.
The AIFF wishes to build the national academy like it is present in top footballing countries like France and Netherlands. It would serve as a centre to develop the already existing talent pool and nurture them into senior teams.
Different Programmes at the NCE
The AIFF has declared a list of different programmes that will he undertaken at the National Centre of Excellence:
- Technical Centre for National teams
- Coach and Referee education
- Player performance analysis
- Youth and grassroots development
- Development of Futsal and it’s national teams
- Centre for sports management, sports science and sports law
- Medical centre of excellence for sports
- Stadium to host
- National team hotel
- Mini pitch
The first phase of construction is currently underway with the help of AIFF and AFC, which includes the technical centre, 2 training fields which includes a natural turf and an artificial turf, both with floodlights.
