East Bengal is set to release or loan quite a few of the players from the squad as directed by Coach Alejandro Menendez who are either not in his plans or he has been disappointed with their performances.

There are some big names like previous years I League Champion ex Minerva Punjab player Bali Gagandeep who has been through a disappointing run since the CFL and got himself sent off within 10 minutes of his first appearance in the I League. Other names like Surabuddin Mollick, Koushik Sarkar, Yami Longvah etc are also in the list.

Rumours have it that East Bengal is looking to strengthen their squad by diving into the January transfer market to sign Indian players and letting these aforesaid players go will help them balance their cheque-books. It is quite evident that these players are not in the plans for Coach Alejandro. He cleared it out further when he didn’t use any substitutes in the previous match against Real Kashmir, even when the team was looking for a winner and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
